Clyde Woolery was born in December 1947 to ranchers Harvey and Violette Woolery. As a child, he, his two brothers, and sister worked alongside their parents in daily running of the ranch operation. The family split their time between the “home place” in Kinnear Valley and “Cow Camp” on the Sweetwater. Clyde especially loved the cattle drives from Kinnear to Cow Camp, being horseback for several days while driving cattle with his family and friends. Clyde graduated from Morton High School and then spent several summers competing in saddle bronc and roping competitions and received a scholarship to compete for Central Wyoming College’s first rodeo team. During this time, he also took a turn at wrangling dudes at the Cross Mill Iron ranch near Dubois. Clyde also loved raising colts, breaking and training them. In 1969, Clyde married Nancy Blazer and they settled back on the Woolery Ranch in Kinnear to raise their family. Clyde continued to learn the craft of ranching from his father and upon his father’s retirement in 1984, Clyde took over management as the third generation to run Woolery Ranch. Clyde served on the Wyoming State Grazing Board and helped the Central Wyoming College Rodeo Booster Club.
